Frequently Asked Questions
Why are you running for State Senate?
Because I live here. I've watched this district for decades and I keep seeing the same problems stick around while Olympia keeps making decisions that don't reflect what's actually happening out here. I'm not a career politician looking for the next step up. I'm a neighbor who got tired of waiting for someone else to speak up..
Why are you running as an Independent?
Getting started is simple. Reach out through our contact form or schedule a call we’ll walk you through the next steps and answer any questions along the way.
What does “community leverage” mean?
The more connected and organized our communities are, the harder we are to ignore in Olympia. Right now rural Washington gets talked about a lot come election season and forgotten the second the votes are counted. Well we don't forget come harvest season, and Olympia shouldn't either. Leverage means making sure they don't.
What are the biggest issues facing the 7th District?
The cost of staying here. Property taxes are going up faster than incomes. Small businesses are getting squeezed by a B&O tax that charges you whether you made money or not. Young people are leaving because there aren't enough opportunities to stick around. And through all of it, the feeling that Olympia isn't really listening. Those are the things I hear about constantly and those are the things I'm focused on.
How will you make sure rural communities are heard in Olympia?
Anybody who knows me knows I don't have a problem being loud and I plan to be loud year round, not just during session. Call my office and you'll get a real person, not a recording. And I want rural communities at the table before decisions get made, not after.
How will you represent ALL parts of the district?
The 7th District is big and spread out and every community has its own needs. I'm not going to pretend one solution fits everybody. That means traveling the district, sitting down with people, and listening before I open my mouth. But it also means connecting the dots between our towns and communities because that's where real leverage comes from. No community in this district should feel like an afterthought and no community should feel like they're fighting alone either.
What would success look like in your first term?

What does it take for rural Washington to have real leverage?
Unity. Right now rural communities across Washington fight their own individual battles and lose. If we show up together with farmers, small business owners, families, veterans, and young people we become a lot harder to ignore. My job is to help build those connections across the district and take that unified voice to Olympia.
How will you compete against an established incumbent?
Senator Short has been in Olympia since 2009. She knows the building. But she's also Republican floor leader, which means her first job is managing her party's agenda and not just ours. I don't answer to a party. I answer to the 7th District. That's not a small difference. And honestly, the best thing I've got going for me is that people out here already know me. I'm not flying in from somewhere else. I've been right here.
How do you feel about Data Centers in the 7th District?
I support data center investment but the 7th District has real leverage, and I won't give it away. Any deal has to protect our resources, our residents, and create lasting opportunity. Outside investment is welcome here. On our terms. Check My Plan page.
